2023 In Review

As the year draws to a close, we reflect on the loss of four classmates and many loved ones.  It's been a challenging year, but we take heart in the knowledge that we will carry them in our hearts and memories.  We grieve, but also look ahead to new possibilities and hope for a brighter future. As we grow older, we become more aware of the fragility of life and the importance of making each day count. We hope that we will see them again on the other side.

Classmate Details

As we look to the future, we ask for a blessing on our families, friends, and all those who are dear to us.  May our homes be filled with peace and comfort, our worries lifted, and our hearts full of hope.  May we rest well tonight, and awake tomorrow to a day of beauty and joy.  Amen.

Another chance to gather in October

Celebrating 55 Years - BEHS 1967 Potluck

 Hello Classmates of ’67 --

This a Reminder to send in your RSVP by Oct 8th for our Potluck Dinner on Oct 15th @ 4:00 P.M.

All are welcome for those whose plans may change at the last minute.

Another chance to gather

Hello Classmates of ’67--
The cancellation of our class reunion was a necessary but sad decision. Many thanks to Cynthia for the effort she’d already put into it.  Here’s hoping, however, that some of you would still enjoy coming together to celebrate #55.  Jeanne Leigh-Goldstein and her husband Marv invite you and a guest to their home in Salt Lake on October 15th for pulled chicken sandwiches and whatever you’d like to add.

Date: October 15, 2022
Time: 4:00-7:00, with potluck supper at 5:00.
Place: Send an Email to
BEHS.CLASSof1967@gmail.com for location & more details

What to bring: Nibbles, salad, or dessert, your own beverage if you want something besides soft drinks and lemonade—or nothing at all if you’re coming from out of state

We’ll send out a reminder in early October if you want to decide closer to the date. Hope you can come!

P.S. Given that we are in the vulnerable age category, please make sure you are COVID vaccinated and boosted so we can all feel comfortable and safe.

Thank you,  📭
Jeanne and Becky

55th Class Reunion has been Cancelled

We have decided to cancel our 55th Class Reunion due to low response and the threat of rising Covid-19 infections in the Box Elder area. The number of RSVPs we have will not cover the cost of the 2 events. Also, there have been over 2,000 new Covid-9 BS-5 variant cases in Box Elder County this past week. This is the highest in the state of Utah.

With a "6 week before event" cancellation notice, we can get a return of our deposits. If you have paid for tickets, your payment will be returned by mail. If the situation allows, we may try to plan a celebration event in 2023 or wait until our 60th year reunion.

We'd like to thank all of those who have supported this effort and we are sorry to have to cancel.  Please follow us on the class web page and follow the CDC guidelines to protect you and your families. The videos in the attached playlist were prepared for the reunion and were going to be played on a large screen at the events center during our lunch. The 4 videos are intended to bring back memories of classmates who have passed and Phun-Photos from previous reunions. The video page has LIKE buttons and it would be nice to hear your comments on each video, on the web page comments or on our Facebook group page

BEHS Class of ’67 Reunion Summary

BEHS Class of ’67 Reunion Picnic
June 23, 2017 at Rees Pioneer Park

More than 50 classmates and guests (including Earl Swenson) enjoyed perfect weather, good music (thanks Joe!), and great company at Friday’s picnic in Pioneer Park.  Jerry Johnston and Dick Bodily rounded up the gas grills, Joe Armstrong was grill master, and folks brought LOTS of food.  Valerie Johnston Robinson won a gift certificate to Peach City in the drawing for those who brought something purple and edible.  Looked like everyone (even spouses) had a good time circulating around trying to catch up with everyone else.

Morning Walk
June 24, foothills above Highland Blvd

Classmates Mike Braegger, Bob Christensen, Larry Dixon, Becky Hickox, Jeanne Leigh-Goldstein, and James Stoddard along with Janet Braegger and Marvin Goldstein took a 90-minute walk along the jeep road then to the base of the waterfall up above Brigham.  The views were great, but even better was the fact that
this was a little group that did nothing together in high school, but had a wonderful time visiting and sharing stories.  It’s a reminder that a reunion isn’t just for reconnecting with close friends, but the opportunity to get to know how interesting other classmates are.

Tour of Remodeled BEHS
June 24

Classmate Paulette Anderson Roberts (now a vice principal at BEHS!) led a group curious to see all the changes since 1967.

BEHS Class of ’67 Reunion Dinner
June 24, Academy Conference Center, Brigham City

85 folks (51 classmates) spent a lovely evening eating and visiting together.  The room included tables set in purple and white, a memorial table, and other tables displaying memorabilia and current hobbies.  Mike Braegger supplied etched flutes and choice of bubbly to fill them for a toast on this momentous occasion.  Cynthia Bywater Kilian, who was unable to attend, donated wine for those who wanted a glass with the Italian buffet dinner.
A short program MC’d by Bill Turner followed dinner.  Kelly Driscoll of the ACC welcomed us, gave a brief history of the building, and mentioned they would like photos of its former lives if anyone came across any (Kayleen Sackett said she had some of the outside as her father owned the store next door).  Former teacher Wendy Foster Leigh gave a few words of greeting, and Jerry Johnston told us how Fern Gardner and some of the female athletes in our class (including Donna Nelson Smith who was there) were much better known around the state than in our own school.  Bill kept things moving and tossed out trivia questions and candy to test our memory and fielding abilities.  Becky Hickox announced that Cynthia Bywater Kilian has volunteered to head up the 55th Reunion, and Becky was presented with a
dozen red roses in thanks for her work on this one.  She gave heart-felt thanks to all who worked with her: Jeanne Leigh-Goldstein, Judi Nielson Springer, Jerry Johnston, Joe & Linda (Larson) Armstrong, Kris (Tanner) & Larry Johnson, Nancy Howarth, Valerie Johnston Robinson, Dick Bodily, and Marvin Goldstein.
The program ended around 8:00, with many staying another one to two hours looking at the displays and trying to visit with everyone there.

It's getting close, folks!  We'll be posting additional details about our 50th Reunion soon.  If you haven't yet received the registration information by mail or email, email us right away.  Deadline for the early bird ticket price has been extended to May 10 since so many invitations were sent to old addresses and have been returned.

SAVE THE DATES!

Hey--we're all in the same boat--49 years older and apparently facing the wrong direction if the photo is to be believed.  Various body parts are malfunctioning, we're all carrying some extra pounds (except for Skipper Joe who still fits into his jacket), but we're still ready to party! So plan to be in Brigham City June 23-24, 2017 for the BEHS Class of '67 50th Reunion.  Dinner this time will be at the lovely Academy Conference Center on June 24.  More details about that and other activities soon.

Very important: Not much money for postage, so we really need current email addresses from all who have them. If yours has changed from 5 years ago--or if you don't remember receiving info about the 45th reunion, please send all your contact info to: behsclassof1967@gmail.com

Thanks!
